Let’s Waste Less! Support National Recycle Week

June 16th, 2010

Here ay Myakka we are always looking at new ways to improve our environmental impact and reduce our waste.  For this reason we are supporting national recycle week running from 21st – 27th June.

.

This year the theme is ‘Love your electrics – set them free’. Three in four of us have unused or unwanted electrical items around the home.  Now’s a great time to take these to your local recycling centre or use one of the many recycling schemes such as Royal Mails Simply Drop’  service where recycling can earn money for charity – simply go online to register your item and get a free post envelope.

.

Any working electrical items can be taken to your local British Heart Foundation shop  where they are able to sell it on to help others.  As long as it is in good working order and there are no signs of damage (except normal wear and tear!) they will be able to accept it. It really is worth recycling your unwanted electrical items as many items contain valuable parts that can be used again and help save precious resources.  For example one toaster can contain enough steel to make 20 cans!

.

The whole Myakka team are looking for those unwanted electrical items and recycling them.  Make sure you get involved and make a difference!
